When America was divided up by Jefferson it’s boundaries weren’t chosen as mountain ranges or rivers etc. like the rest of the world but by a simple grid system carving the land up into perfect square miles. As a result two adjacent land owners might have different uses for their own square mile and from the air the contrast is clearly visible.
@the.jefferson.grid on Instagram has taken note of this and regularly posts screen crops from Google maps which highlight some of the best examples.
