Eiko Ojala

Eiko Ojala is a graphic designer working mainly in colourful, virtual papercuts. The New York scene above, commissioned for a Manhattan hotel lobby, immediately brought to mind images of fairy tale castles. Using contrasting colours on either side of the rendered paper is really effective and the three bold, bright colours work well together.

Tolkien, as always, provides vivid imagery for creating artwork.

This wallpaper is lovingly constructed. The detail below could fool anyone in the room until they inevitably went over to feel it.

The editorial illustration for Sunday Times Travel is another of those beautiful intricate creations that attracted me to Ojala’s work.
