Levi van Veluw creates interesting self portraits applying different textures to his face and body. Each image is photographed by him with nothing added digitally.
The grassy landscapes and his head compliment each other, the unusual curves in the landscape and unexpected yet recognisable human form are captivating.
Miniature worlds such as these are always alluring, since the four landscapes in the series all feature on the same face it is as though they are the same world at different times, above after it has been cultivated and below an untamed woodland has spread and lastly it is seen in winter.
Further to the portraits van Veluw has created a video showing a 360° rotation with the addition of a moving train and street lights which are lit up during the night time.
The above image was created by photographing luminous foil attached to van Veluw’s head in a dark room.
Levi’s website contains several more self portraits as well as charcoal drawings and other projects.
