Andy Goldsworthy

Andy Goldsworthy OBE creates beautiful art entirely from nature.

This bright blanket of leaves was created by threading the stalks together.

In his diary he explains how he held his nose whilst plucking the feathers from a dead heron as he had been working on the object for four days and it became rather pungent. Describing what the form is about he said “[…] in a way I killed off the initial appearance of the feather but what I hoped to get was the essential quality of feather. I won’t accept things on the surface, I want to go a bit deeper, I want to get under the surface.”
